ABASTUMANI WAITING FOR “SIGHNAGHISATION”*
In the last century it was a well-known health resort, famous for its clean air that alone was able to cure TB patients allergic to anti-TB drugs. Poets composed verses about it, but gradually it has fallen into decay. Today it is a mere shadow of its former self, with rubbish all around and wooden booths instead of shops. Few tourists visit it nowadays, as it has little to offer, except healthy air and pleasant landscape.

Residents of more than 30 villages of the Marneuli municipality are requesting to restore a four-carriage commuter train service, which used to run between Tbilisi and Sadakhlo in the past, or at least provide some baggage cars in addition to the currently available two passenger cars.
